New Knowledge Partnership for PanaceaStars
OXFORD/FRANKFURT - UNITED KINGDOM/GERMANY - TUESDAY FEBRUARY 6, 2018.
The PanaceaStars Accelerator programme aims to source the very best early-stage start-ups both nationally and internationally across our BioStars (Life Sciences/Healthcare), AIStars (Artificial Intelligence) and TEMStars (Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) streams. Selected start-ups undergo an intensive de-risking and development phase, including workshops, bootcamps and training sessions. By bringing our teams into close contact with the very best academic and industrial mentors (including scientific, investment, legal and consultancy) during this programme, start-ups experience the very best environment in which to create a successful business. The culmination of the programme in June 2018 sees the crowning of the winning team at a Grand Finale Gala dinner, at which the non-dilutive prize fund of £30,000 is awarded, along with ongoing mentorship and development space. The deadline for applying to PanaceaStars 2018 Accelerator programme is 17th February.
By establishing a knowledge partnership with McKinsey & Company, PanaceaStars further enhances the quality of mentoring and business development resources available to start-ups, and develops the network of industry leading professionals available for interaction with teams. This will not only aid in the development of individual start-ups, but also help to optimise team value for potential future investment by Panacea’s funding arm, Panacea Ventures.
Dr Tobias Silberzahn, Partner at McKinsey & Company, said “In the healthcare innovation space, we see a lot of promising start-ups with great ideas, and usually lots of questions about commercialization, scale-up and the overall health system perspective. We are looking forward to addressing some of these questions with the start-ups”.
Mina Bekheet, CEO and Founder of the Panacea group, said “I am particularly excited by this partnership, as it gives our start-ups an opportunity to network with, and be mentored by, professionals with top-notch industry expertise. This guarantees to place our PanaceaStars start-ups in the best possible position moving forwards. Such partnerships are crucial in building on our already leading position as an all-inclusive deep science translation programme, and raises the quality of our offering to start-ups and, in turn, their future offerings to investors”.
